| 12/24V 70 Amp Diode Isolator |
Preferred method for charging dual batteries on vehicles with externally sensed alternators Solid state and waterproof |
Independent Charging Diode isolators independently charge both batteries when the engine starts. This allows large auxiliary batteries to be used with a smaller starting battery as they are not paralleled during charging. Therefore, a very flat, large auxiliary battery can not flatten the starting battery during charging. |
Solid State Diode isolators use solid state electronics and have no moving parts making them ultra reliable. As they don't use heavy duty switches, they don't produce voltage surges. |
Dual Voltage (12/24V) Diode isolators can be used on either 12V or 24V vehicles. |
Waterproof Diode isolators are completely waterproof making them ideal for marine environments. |
Suits Vehicles with Externally Sensed Alternators Common to all diode isolators is a voltage drop between the input and output terminals, it is 0.5V on the Projecta unit.
This voltage drop means that the charging voltage on the battery will be 0.5V less than the voltage coming from the alternator, which results in batteries being undercharged.
Vehicles with externally sensed alternators can connect the sensing wire directly to the battery. This makes the alternator produce an extra 0.5V on its output to compensate for the diode isolator.
