Jeremy Landt's Dual Battery System Lithium Upgrade

In the past we have covered Jeremy Landt and his N70 Hilux as he continues to build his 4x4 into one of a kind. In this blog we will cover his latest upgrade as Jeremy converts his AGM dual battery setup to a Lithium 12V setup.

For those unfamiliar, Projecta Brand Ambassador Jeremy Landt is an avid tourer and keen 4x4er. He has decked out his Toyota N70 Hilux with a host of accessories and electrical upgrades, with numerous Projecta and Narva goodies gracing the vehicle. To aid in achieving a lighter, more durable and economical set up, Jeremy has turned to a Projecta Lithium upgrade superseding his AGM Dual Battery setup.

The upgrade to a Projecta Intelli-Wave 2000W Inverter, Projecta Intelli-Charge 25A Battery Charger and Projecta Intelli-Charge Lithium 25A DC/DC Charger has increased Jeremy’s battery capacity and is more suited to higher discharge rates that are experienced under heavy loads. The lithium setup offers nearly double the capacity of the AGM battery setup that it replaced in similar physical size and is also roughly 75% lighter! For longer trips, the lithium batteries stay topped up by two Projecta 120W fixed solar panels on his roof.

It must be noted that the initial setup cost of a good lithium setup will set you back more than a comparable AGM setup, however considering its increased lifespan and efficiency will see Jeremy be much better off financially in the long run.

The process in setting up the new system is very easy and can be as simple as merely changing out the original battery and replacing it with the lithium. This does, however, depend on the specific setup and we would recommend discussing the install with a professional before going ahead!

Jeremy has also recently turned his passion project into an exciting new side business, with ‘Xsesiv Industries’ to formally commence operations in the new year. Jeremy aims to use his technical knowledge and expertise (maybe even some lessons learnt!) to help other 4x4ers enhance their 12V set up, make the big change to lithium, or simply establish a clean and tidy looking 12V power board for their vehicle. As someone who has made multiple upgrades to his Hilux’s 12V system over recent years, it’s an exciting way for him to formally help his followers with their concepts and builds on a tailored, personal level.
