Monitoring Battery Health Is Easy With New Projecta Battery Meter

Projecta is making it easier and more convenient for owners of caravans and camper trailers to monitor the health of their batteries, with the introduction of the sophisticated, new BM320 smart Battery Meter which is suitable for 12V Wet, AGM, Gel and Calcium-type batteries up to 320Ah.

All data is accessed via the BM320’s easy-to-use, full colour, LCD monitor (2.4”) interface which incorporates two screens. The first is a basic screen which is ideal for the novice user and displays information on battery performance, including voltage, charge / discharge status, remaining capacity and time to empty / full.

A second screen provides more information, indicating ambient temperature, state of health and battery capacity reading in Ampere hour.

An additional feature of the unit is a real time clock with date display and this is particularly useful in caravans and campers as it means there’s no need to mount additional clocks in the van. When using time and date mode, a smaller colour battery status icon remains at the top of the screen allowing the user to still keep an eye on the battery performance.

As a safeguard, the BM320 includes two built-in alarms, low capacity and low state of health. These are set on initial start-up and installation of the device, ideally by the caravan manufacturer, eliminating owner involvement and reducing customer call-outs caused by incorrect settings by the end user.

The Projecta BM320 benefits from advanced patented technology which ensures highly accurate performance readings while at the same time also featuring self-learning capabilities. These track and monitor the batteries’ state of health, allowing the user to pre-emptively recondition or change the battery before failure occurs.

Functionality aside, the unit boasts a stylish and compact design (118mm x 96mm x 18mm) that suits all modern caravan interiors.

Installation is also simple thanks to a comprehensive kit that includes a snap-in bracket with mounting plate and all the required screws and hardware and the bracket is suitable for fitment to a wide range of surfaces.

Also supplied is a 1.5m pre-wired harness with a 4-pin connector to suit the rear of the unit. All wires are labelled and the positive wire is fused with a replaceable 1A fuse.

If the battery meter is being wired into an existing loom, a terminal block is also included which allows the installer to use their own wiring harness.

For peace of mind, a high quality 500A shunt is also supplied, featuring a robust rubber cover to prevent damage or shorts. The unit also benefits from over and under voltage protection and is reverse polarity protected.
